Whole Grain Date & Nut Bars




In a large mixing bowl combine:


1 1/2 C cheerios cereal


3/4 C crispy rice cereal


1/3 C sliced almonds


3 T dry milk powder


1/2 C pitted dates, coarsely chopped


1/4 C coarsely chopped dried apricots


Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.


On the stove top combine: 1/3 C honey and 1/4 C natural salted peanut butter. Heat for 5 minutes until mixture is combined and easy to stir. Pour over cereal mixture and stir to combine. Place in a 8"X8" baking pan lined with parchment paper and then sprayed with cooking spray. Bake for 10-12 minutes of just until the bars are beginning to brown. Let cool completely in pan for at least 2 hours. Remove from pan and cut into bars.

This sounds like a great recipe to use up the end of the cereal in the boxes. I love using cereals in sweet treats like this. These look great!

Thank you for stopping by. These tasty treats will need to be put into a freezer bag soon. I am the only one eating them and they are so tasty! You can use any dried fruit you like and even crunchy peanut butter for a different bar.
